Woman Throws Acid On Ex-Partner, Attempts To Kill Self In Tamil Nadu

Both of them are receiving treatment in CMCH and both are in stable condition.

Chennai: A 27-year-old woman threw acid on the face of a man with whom she was in a live-in relationship for a while and then attempted suicide in Peelamedu on Friday. The incident took place in her apartment in Peelamedu and both of them are receiving treatment at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. 

According to a report on The New Indian Express, a woman from Kancheepuram met a 35-year-old man from Tiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Both of them met each other in Dubai and she was working at a massage center in a foreign country. 

The woman is a divorcee and has a child. However, both of them developed a relationship while they were in Dubai and started living together. 

In July 2021, the woman returned to Chennai while the man returned to Kerala in October.

After this, the man married another woman but he was still in touch with the 27-year-old woman without revealing about his marriage. 

However, after the 27-year-old woman invited him to meet her in Peelamedu, he decided to tell her about his marriage in person on Friday. 

Based on the request, the man arrived at her apartment in Peelamedu and after a while, he told her about his marriage to another woman. 

Following this, the woman got frustrated and got into an argument. She accused the man of cheating her and then threw acid on his face in a fit of rage. She then took a knife and tried to hurt him. 

When he fell to the ground, she tried to kill herself. However, by then the neighbours rushed to the apartment and rescued the two. 

Both of them have been admitted to CMCH and both are in stable condition. The man escaped with minor injuries. Yet based on the complaint two cases have been registered in Peelamedu police station. The woman has also sought Rs 18 lakh from the man for cheating her.
