Devotees gathered and pulled the temple car of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam on Wednesday as part of the ongoing 'Thai Ther' festival. The procession moved through West Uthira Street, North Uthira Street, and East Uthira Street. The processional deity, Sri Namperumal, accompanied by 'Ubhaya Nachiayars,' was taken out in a procession to the 'Thai Ther' mandapam.

A significant number of devotees joined the 'Thai Car Festival' at the temple in Trichy's Srirangam. The festival started at 6 am with devotees pulling the chariot carrying the processional deity 'Namperumal' from South Uthira Street.

It may be recalled that PM Modi recently visited Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple in Srirangam ahead of Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla in Ram Mandir of Ayodhya.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli. During his visit, an elephant at the temple blessed the Prime Minister and even played a mouth organ for him. The PM also listened to verses from Kamba Ramayan during his visit to the temple. The Srirangam temple is a significant historical site where it is believed that the renowned poet Kamban first publicly presented his Ramayan.

Notably, this marks Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the first head of government to visit the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli.
