TN CM Stalin Announces State Honours For DMDK Chief Vijayakanth's Funeral
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi remembered DMDK founder Vijayakanth for his contributions to cinema and politics and extended condolences to his family members and fans.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin paid his last respects to DMDK chief Vijayakanth who died due to a coronavirus infection on Thursday. He was 71. In its bulletin, a private hospital announced Vijayakanth's passing on the morning of December 28. The release stated that he had been on ventilator support following admission for pneumonia. An earlier party bulletin had reported that he tested positive coronavirus. However, Vijayakanth had battled various illnesses for an extended period.

In his condolence message, Stalin expressed shock and grief over Vijayakanth's death and hailed him as an achiever; both as an actor and as a leader in public life.
The DMDK founder's death is a huge loss for Tamil Nadu and the world of cinema, the Chief Minister said and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members and party workers, according to a report on Times of India.
