Vijayakanth Admitted To Chennai Hospital Due To Breathlessness
DMDK founder Vijayakanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai due to shortness of breath. The details of his health condition are expected to be revealed after the hospital report.
Chennai: DMDK founder Vijayakanth has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai following breathing complications.
The actor- turned Politian was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after he complained of shortness of breath. According to reports, Vijaykanth was admitted to the hospital at around 3 in the morning. The details of his health condition are expected to be revealed after the hospital report.
According to the party source, Vijaykanth has gone to the hospital for a routine check-up and he will return home in a few days.
Earlier, Vijayakanth had said that the Andal Alagar College of Engineering in Mamandur, Chengalpattu district would be generously utilized to treat corona patients. He also announced that Rs 10 lakh would be provided on behalf of DMDK to the Chief Minister's Corona Relief Fund.
Political Career:
Vijayakanth, lovingly known as 'Captain' by the people of Tamil Nadu, won the 2006 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from Virudhachalam constituency.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, he contested and won the Rishivandiyam constituency. In the election, his DMDK emerged as an opposition party.
He was a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and Leader of the Opposition from 2011 to 2016.
In the 2016 assembly elections, Vijayakanth was announced as the chief candidate of the People's Welfare Alliance.
For the past few years, the yesteryear actor and current politician, has been suffering from poor health. Despite, being the main candidate of the DMDK party he abstained from contesting the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections due to ill health. However, party treasurer Premalatha Vijayakanth lost the election in the Virudhachalam constituency.
He also campaigned in support of party candidates in places including Virudhachalam, Srirangam, and Trichy East without any speeches, and subsequently, his Murasu Chinnam collected votes in the region.
Infected Last Year With Coronavirus: After being admitted to a popular private hospital following health complications in Chennai, he recovered and returned home within 10 days last year. The hospital said Vijaykanth was suffering from a mild asymptomatic infection and had no other health problems.
Vijayakanth is known for his generosity amongst his fans and people of Tamil and he never steps back giving a helping hand. The former Tamil actor offered a part of Andal Algarh Engineering College ground to bury Simon's body who was died of the first wave of coronavirus last year following a public protest to bury the body of corona victim.
