TN Woman Accuses Nurse Of Administering Both Doses Of COVID Vaccine Consecutively | All About It

Lakshmi alleged that the nurse started speaking to another patient and gave her the first vaccine shot. Later, without listening to Lakshmi the nurse allegedly inoculated her again.

Chennai: A 50-year-old woman in Cuddalore alleged that a nurse of a government primary healthcare centre administered a vaccine twice, on Monday. The woman alleged that the nurse was speaking to some other patient and mistakenly gave her the vaccine. She also showed the two “inoculation marks” on her hands.

According to a report by ABP Nadu, a 50-year-old woman, Lakshmi of Irular Street and a construction labourer, went to a vaccination centre at a PHC in Cuddalore at 10.30 PM on Monday. She decided to take the vaccine after receiving the consultation of a doctor and was waiting in the seat next to the nurse.

However, Lakshmi alleged that the nurse started speaking to another patient and gave her the first vaccine shot. Later, the same nurse left the place and returned back to the room. She once again tried to inoculate Lakshmi but reportedly Lakshmi said that she already received a vaccine dose. Yet without listening to Lakshmi the nurse inoculated her.

Following this, Lakshmi's son Iyappan demanded an explanation from the doctor and the nurse. However, the doctor and nurse denied that they vaccinated Lakshmi twice.

Lakshmi then showed her hand and the two "vaccination marks”. Soon, the hospital authorities took Lakshmi for a medical examination but said that the vaccines will not show any adverse reactions even if two of them were administered at the same time.

However, the allegation created a flutter with some of the people who were lined up to take the vaccine leaving the place.

On Sunday, Tamil Nadu vaccinated a record 28,91,021 doses of COVID-19 vaccine as part of a mega vaccination drive. The state set a target to vaccinate 20 lakh people but exceeded the set number. With this, 66 per cent of adults in the state have received at least one dose of vaccine.
