Tamil Nadu Lifts Night Curfew, Sunday Lockdown. Schools To Reopen From Feb 1 | Details Here

As part of easing Covid-induced restrictions across the state, the government has decided to resume physical classes at schools for standards 1 to 12 and colleges following Covid protocols.

New Delhi: Amid a drop in Covid cases, Tamil Nadu government has announced reopening of physical classes at schools for standards 1 to 12 from February 1. The state has also decided to lift the ongoing night curfew from January 28.

As part of easing Covid-induced restrictions across the state, the government has decided to resume physical classes at schools for standards 1 to 12 and colleges following Covid protocols from February 1. However, the play schools and nursery schools will continue to remain shut.

The government has also decided to do away with the Sunday lockdowns and the night curfew.

The government notice said that all exhibitions, cultural and political events will not be permitted in the state. Restaurants, malls, theatres and gyms will be allowed to operate with 50 per cent occupancy.

As per the government notification, the number of guests allowed at weddings has been fixed at 100. According to the new Covid guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed to attend funerals. All the places of worship will be allowed to remain open on all days.

Chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday held a meeting with the health experts and officials on relaxing the Covid lockdown. The new guidelines were released by the government after the meeting.

CM Stalin urged the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and cooperate with the government in fighting the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu clocked 28,515 fresh Covid cases and 53 fatalities in the last 24 hours on Thursday. The state capital logged 5,591 cases in the same time period.
