Responding to the General Secretary of Bangla Pokkho on Twitter, Tamil Nadu police urged people to not create hatred among others by spreading rumours with ulterior movies.
"This part of India is known for its traditional encrusted culture of embracing everyone by saying 'yaathum oore yaavarum Kelir'. Tamil Nadu won’t discriminate against people on any account. The solid proof for the same is the happy and safe life of all the people living," Tamil Nadu police said.
Earlier, the Tiruppur administration and police clarified that the viral videos showing alleged attacks on migrant workers in Tamil Nadu are fake and action will be taken against the ones spreading such rumours.
According to reports, several videos circulated on social media indicated migrant workers from North India were leaving Tiruppur over an alleged hostile attitude towards them.
“Tiruppur is a textile district and nearly 1.5 lakhs migrants, mostly from Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Bengal, are working here. No such incidents took place in all the other places. Only Tiruppur is being targeted,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Gupta said.
