'Ordinance Bill Should Be Defeated In Rajya Sabha': Arvind Kejriwal After TN CM Stalin Extends Support
"This Bill should be defeated in Rajya Sabha. Stalin extended his support to us. DMK will stand by people of Delhi," he said.
"DMK will stand by the people of Delhi," said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after his Tamil Nadu counterpart MK Stalin extended support to the Delhi Ordinance bill at his residence in Chennai on Thursday. The Delhi CM was accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "We came to Tamil Nadu to meet Stalin and his colleagues. After 8 years of struggle, the people of Delhi won in Supreme Court. The Apex Court said that the elected government should have all powers to run the government. As per the order, the services and bureaucrats will be controlled by Delhi government. However, BJP government passed an ordinance nullifying the SC order. They took the powers of the elected government. This is undemocratic."

On May 19, the Centre promulgated an ordinance to nullify the Supreme Court order favouring Delhi government to control civil services. The Ordinance came a week after the Supreme Court handed over the control of services in Delhi, excluding police, public order and land, to the elected government.
Before the Apex Court order, transfer and postings of all officers of Delhi government were under the executive control of Lt Governor.
