Against the backdrop of recent disagreements between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin and Governor R N Ravi over the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi to the nation, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and DMK leaders took a pledge to on 'religious harmony' while Governor RN Ravi paid floral tributes to Father of Nation on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary on Tuesday. Earlier, DMK President and Chief Minister M K Stalin urged party members and people nationwide to observe January 30, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, as Religious Harmony Day. He also criticised the Right wing, pointing out that the 'anger of communal elements' against Gandhiji persisted even 75 years after his demise. The statement by the ruling party chief followed even after Ravi's clarification that an 'erroneous impression' was created regarding his earlier remarks on Gandhiji.
