Lok Sabha Elections: DMK Forms War Room In Tamil Nadu, To Be Managed By Party Advocates

DMK established a a 'War Room' that will be managed by a team of party attorneys to address local concerns in collaboration with office-bearers.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Tamil Nadu's governing DMK on Sunday established a 'War Room' that will be managed by a team of party attorneys to address local concerns in collaboration with office-bearers, news agency PTI reported. Aside from the state-level war room, the Dravidian major stated that district-level war rooms will be established, each with a three-tier network of coordinators: one at the district level and the other two at the levels of a Parliamentary constituency and a 'front' (covering areas under the jurisdiction of a single police station).

A DMK headquarters declaration in the ruling party's Tamil newspaper 'Murasoli' designated office bearers for Booth committee and campaign supervision (Anbagam Kalai, joint organisation secretary) and Media debate and campaign management (S Austin, deputy organisation secretary). Senior counsel and Rajya Sabha member NR Elango will lead the legal team. The war room (headquarters) would be overseen by a staff of up to 33 advocates, the party announced.

In addition, the party established a three-member team of advocates for 'election cases' and a two-member legal team to coordinate concerns of statutory compliance with polls and representations to the Election Commission.

The apex level (headquarters) will be coordinated by 'Thuraimugam' Kaja and 'Poochi' Murugan. While one team will focus on complaints filed with police and security-related responsibilities, another group of attorneys will handle pertinent matters at the zonal level.
