From NEET To Arrest Of Tamil Fishermen By SL Navy: Highlights Of Tamil Nadu Governor’s Speech In Tamil Nadu Assembly

The Governor said that Tamil Nadu government is committed to the idea that NEET is not required for medical admissions.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi delivered his customary address in the first Tamil Nadu Assembly session for the year in Kalaivanar Aragam in Chennai on Wednesday. The Governor quoted several government schemes and also elaborated about the Tamil Nadu government’s plan on implementing other schemes. 

Here’s the highlight of the Governor’s speech:

> Tamil Nadu government is committed to taking Tamil to all places through the "Engum Tamil, Ethilum Tamil” scheme

> Government is committed to ensuring maintenance of law and order situation in the state

> It will function efficiently to ensure the safety of women and children 

> It will strive to maintain the water capacity of Mullaperiyar Dam at 152 ft and will not permit Karnataka to construct the Mekedatu dam 

>  It will provide standard education to children through the "Illam Thedi Kalvi" scheme 

> It will follow the two language scheme–Tamil and English–in the state 

> It is committed to the idea that NEET is not required for medical admissions

> It will improve the standard of higher education in Tamil Nadu

> It will continue to take efforts for the release of 68 Tamil Nadu fishermen from Sri Lanka

> It will make efforts to revamp 145 'Samathuvapuram' in the memory of Thanthai Periyar in the state

> It also aims to share power with rural authorities and to uphold democracy

> It will implement “Singara Chennai” scheme at the cost of Rs 500 crore

> It mulls to launch a scheme for the advancement of government schools in the next 5 years

> It is planning to set up smart classrooms in all 24,245 schools in the state

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor Ravi lauded Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin as a popular CM in India. Further, he also appreciated MK Stalin for his works in handling the second wave of the pandemic, making vaccination a people's movement in the state and for conducting rural local body polls successfully in nine districts.
