Cyclone Michaung: PM Modi Expresses Grief, Says Authorities Will Work Until Situation Normalises

In the wake of havoc wreaked by Cyclone Michaung in southern states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his heartfelt condolences for the lives lost due to the cyclone and specifically extended his sympathy to the affected families in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry. PM Modi conveyed his prayers for those injured and affected by the cyclone and acknowledged the diligent efforts of authorities on the ground. He also assured that the ongoing assistance and relief operations would persist until the situation fully normalizes.

Residents grappled with stagnant water and power disruptions in various parts of the city and its suburbs on Wednesday, two days after Cyclone Michuang wreaked havoc in the metropolis and neighboring districts. Civic agency personnel intensified their relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The heavy rainfall triggered by the cyclone had led to inundation in localities, including Velachery and Tambaram. On Wednesday, residents were observed leaving their homes in water-surrounded areas, seeking refuge in safer zones. They carried their children and waded through stagnant water, urgently calling for help and requesting more boats to ferry people to higher ground.
