The Chief Minister said that Tamil Nadu and DMK would do everything to "stop Hindi imposition" and remove the "undeserving special status" enjoyed by Hindi.
New Indian Assurance Co Ltd apologised for issuing a circular in Hindi on Tuesday. The move comes after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and other Tamil Nadu politicians condemned New India Assurance, a public sector general insurance company, for issuing a circular in Hindi and reportedly disrespecting non-Hindi speakers of India. In a tweet, Stalin said, “The Union Government and its institutions are intent on spending their valuable resources on imposing Hindi down our throats, rather than for public welfare.”
“Latest in this list is the unjust circular issued by @NewIndAssurance. It must be withdrawn with immediate effect and its Chairperson Neerja Kapur needs to apologise for the disrespect shown towards non-Hindi speakers of India and non-Hindi speaking employees of @NewIndAssurance,” he said.
