Chennai: Restaurant Staffer Held For Filming Women In Food Chain’s Restroom Using Phone Camera
A woman while using the restroom saw the phone and immediately gave a complaint to the management.
Chennai: In a shocking incident in Chennai, a staffer of a restaurant in Guindy has been arrested by the police for secretly recording videos of women customers by using a mobile phone camera in the women's restroom of the restaurant, on Friday. The issue came to light after a DMK functionary who went to a popular vegetarian food chain’s branch in Adyar where she found out about the crime.
According to a report on ABP Nadu, a DMK women functionary was in Adyar to attend the meeting of the party and to discuss Urban Body Elections. During lunch hours, she went to the food chain to have lunch and later she went to the women's toilet. Upon entering the toilet, she noticed a small box kept near the ventilator and when she opened the box she was shocked to find a phone with a live recording.

She took the phone and immediately gave a complaint to the management. She then gave a complaint to the Guindy police for further inquiry.
Based on a preliminary probe, the police found out that the accused was Thavakannan or Kannan of Virudhunagar, a staffer at the restaurant. Based on the complaint, the police arrested the person and lodged him in the police station.
When women already face sanitation-related issues forcing them to stop using public toilets, incidents like these especially in toilets of the popular food chains have come as a shocker in the city.
