Centre Admits 50 Students To AIIMS Madurai Without Informing Tamil Nadu Govt: Report
The classes for the students are set to temporarily begin from Ramanathapuram GMC.
Chennai: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai admitted 50 MBBS students to the first batch without informing the Tamil Nadu government.
This update comes nearly three years after PM Modi laid the foundation stone for its construction. According to a report on Times of India, even after the Centre admitted 50 students for its first batch the Tamil Nadu government and TN Health Minister Ma Subramanian are yet to be informed about the admissions.
While the construction is continuing in Madurai, the students were reportedly told to appear for classes in Tamil Nadu Government Medical College (GMC) in Ramanathapuram.
The Medical Counselling Committee of DGHS initially allotted 50 medical seats to the centralised online counseling in the first week of February to admit candidates on the basis of the NEET scores and quota. Following this, seven students were admitted to the course while six of them opted for an upgrade in the next round.
