The CM was responding to a question by a reporter on whether the state will consider legal options against Governor as Telangana did against Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

Tamil Nadu CM Stalin on Friday said that they have been considering legal options in connection with the delay of Governor RN Ravi to clear the bills pending before him. The CM also commented on the Mekedatu Dam and reiterated the stand of Tamil Nadu government to oppose the project.

To a question on Mekedatu, Stalin reiterated the stand of the government. Stalin said, "DMK government has not budged from its stand of safeguarding the interests of the delta farmers."  He asserted that his government would strongly oppose the proposed move of the Karnataka government in constructing a dam across the Cauvery River at Mekedatu, as per PTI.

The Chief Minister replied, "We will firmly oppose the construction, toeing the line of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi."

CM Stalin is on a two-day review of desilting work in Delta districts. During the visit, he meet officials to discuss the customary opening of sluice gates to Mettur Dam in Salem on June 12.

On Thursday night, CM Stalin arrived at Trichy airport and traveled by road to Thanjavur. In the district, he held a review meeting with Thanjavur district officials. He also learned about the status of desilting work.

The CM said that the state was creating a revolution by surpassing the previous years' cultivation and production mark. He said, "I won't call this record. It's a revolution. In 2022-23 we surpassed the previous year's area of cultivation and production to 5.36 lakh acres for Kuruvai and 13.53 lakh acres for Samba crop leading to a production of 41.45 lakh tonne of paddy. This was because we took up desilting work for Rs 80 crore, extended crop loans to farmers and opened the Mettur dam on May 24."
