AIADMK Power Tussle: OPS Dares EPS To Launch Own Political Party

AIADMK Power Tussle: "If Palaniswami did so, he would understand his plight," OPS said.

Chennai: "We will win party's leadership battle," said Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Wednesday. He also dared EPS to start a new party to understand his plight.

Talking to reporters, O Panneerselvam said, "He (EPS) is saying that there is not even one per cent scope for (rapprochement) it. Who are you? Have you ever seen or interacted with MGR (party founder and late Chief Minister M G Ramachandran)? The party founder gave the ordinary workers (primary members) the right to choose the party chief, the party general secretary. Such a cardinal party bylaw was, however, discarded and it is a murder of democracy."

"Please reform yourself," he said, as per PTI.

OPS also told EPS to float a separate party if he had 'guts and courage'.

"If Palaniswami did so, he would understand his plight," he said.

He also said that he remained calm for nearly five year during EPS rule since he was deceived for four and a half years.

OPS also criticised EPS for maneuvering against his son OP Ravindranath. OPS said that OP Ravindranath might have had a chance to become a Union Minister in the BJP-led dispensation, following the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the report said.

He said that the general council meet will be held in due course and an announcement shall be made.

When questioned on VK Sasikala, OPS said that she and others can be accommodated at the party.

The event was also attended by leaders Panruti S Ramachandran and R Vaithilingam.

Meanwhile, AIADMK leader D Jayakumar said that the meeting does not have any role to do with the party. He also advised Panruti Ramachandran to avoid company of OPS.
