Senior BJP Leader Dilip Ghosh Set To Marry Party Colleague At 61
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh is marrying Rinku, who supported him during his electoral defeat. The news has sparked interest due to Ghosh's former status as an unmarried RSS pracharak.

BJP leader Dilip Ghosh is getting married, and the news has stirred a buzz in Bengal’s political circles. According to media reports, Ghosh, after his defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections, found himself alone and isolated, and the woman who supported him during that difficult time will reportedly be his partner.
While the development has become a hot topic of discussion, senior leaders of the state BJP have largely remained silent. Interestingly, in this backdrop, leaders from rival party Trinamool Congress (TMC) have showered Dilip with congratulatory messages.
As soon as news of Dilip's wedding broke, TMC State Secretary Kunal Ghosh was among the first to respond on social media. He wrote:
"Is the marriage of a senior BJP unmarried leader of the state going to happen tomorrow? Is the registry being done? Is the bride a BJP worker? Is a section of the party opposing the leader? In any case, will he make his own decision, ignoring the party's opinion? If the marriage happens tomorrow, congratulations. If he accepts the party's ban, then that's a different matter. You will see this as a post by the Consulting Editor of Sangbad Pratidin," posted Ghosh on X.
Meanwhile, TMC’s young face Debangshu Bhattacharya extended heartfelt wishes, writing on social media
Even while congratulating, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee couldn’t resist a jibe. Speaking to ABP Ananda, he said:
“Is he really getting married? I’m very happy. He’s a good man, not a bad person. He was probably struggling with meals, that’ll be sorted now.”
According to reports, Dilip met Rinku in 2021 during a morning walk at Eco Park in Kolkata. One of the reasons the wedding has drawn attention is Dilip’s background as a former pracharak (full-time campaigner) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where most members traditionally remain unmarried. Dilip, too, had remained single all these years, and this marks a significant personal shift for him.
Dilip joined BJP in 2015 and became the party’s state president that December. In 2016, he was elected MLA from Kharagpur, and in 2019, he became an MP from Medinipur. Known for his fiery remarks and “don’t care” attitude, Dilip's political fortunes took a turn last year. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his constituency was changed from Kharagpur to Durgapur-Bardhaman, where he suffered a defeat.
He didn’t hide his disappointment over the change, and his supporters even alleged internal conspiracy within the party. During those trying times, Rinku is said to have stood by him and helped him heal emotionally. It is reported that he agreed to marry her to fulfill his mother's wish.
Rinku is divorced and has a son, who has also given his consent to the marriage.
As per ABP Ananda, the RSS clarified that Dilip is no longer considered a pracharak in the traditional sense, as he no longer depends on the organization for sustenance and earns his own living.
