Uttar Pradesh: Man In Fatehpur Tests Positive For Swine Flu

The veterinary officer has constituted a four-member committee to prepare a report and check the samples of suspected pigs.

New Delhi: A man, Rambabu, has tested positive for Swine Flu (H1N1) in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was admitted to Kanpur's Regency Hospital on Thursday after suffering from fever, cold, cough and back pain for ten days, according to IANS. 

The Chief Medical Officer, CMO, of Kanpur Alok Ranjan sent a report to the Fatehpur administration and suggested isolating Rambabu's family. He has also requested everyone to wear masks and avoid crowded spaces. He added that the situation is under control. 

According to IANS, the number of pigs found dead in Uttar Pradesh has increased. The veterinary officer of the Kanpur municipal corporation has sent a sample of the dead pig's excreta to the Bhopal laboratory for examination.

Initially, these pigs were suspected of dying from African swine fever. To test this, the viscera of five dead pigs were sent for examination. The veterinary officer also constituted a four-member committee to prepare a report and check the samples of suspected pigs.

Mumbai sees rise in H1N1

Meanwhile, at least four people in Mumbai who contract the H1N1 virus are on life support, according to a Times of India report. The civic body has so far reported at least 11 cases in July, TOI reported.

The rise in H1N1 cases began three weeks ago, according to Dr Rajesh Sharma, who told TOI that patients would come in with high fever and upper respiratory tract infection but tested negative for Covid-19.
