Uttar Pradesh: Key Witness Of BSP MLA Raju Pal's Murder Shot Dead In Prayagraj
Key witness Umesh Pal, along with two of his security personnel, were attacked by some unknown assailants on Friday.
New Delhi: The key witness of BSP MLA Raju Pal murder, Umesh Pal, was reportedly gunned down in Dhumanganj police station area of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
According to reports, the miscreants allegedly entered Umesh Pal's house and shot him. Pal was rushed to Swarooprani Nehru Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to police, Umesh Pal, along with two of his security personnel were attacked by the unknown assailants. Pal, along with one of the security personnel died while another one is critically injured.
Police said the miscreants barged into the house of Umesh Pal and shot him first and then attacked him a bomb.
As per reports, Police commissioner Ramit Sharma confirmed the death of Umesh Pal.
Notably, former MP Atiq Ahmed and his brother and former MLA Ashraf are the prime accused in the murder of Raju Pal, who was killed in 2005. All the accused are currently lodged in jail.
As per reports, as soon as Umesh Pal reached home from the high court on Friday evening, after giving his final statement in the Raju Pal murder case, four miscreants opened fire on him. Both the security personnel tried to cover him and took him inside. Following this, the assailants barged into his house and fired several rounds of bullets and hurled crude bombs. Umesh and both the security personnel were hit by the bullets and bombs.
Advocate Vikram Sinha, lawyer of Raju Pal’s wife Pooja Pal and Umesh Pal in the murder case said that Umesh was in the court with them till 4pm on Friday.
Notably, Raju Pal became an MLA on a BSP ticket in the 2005 Assembly election from Allahabad West seat, which fell vacant after Atiq Ahmed became MP. Raju Pal defeated Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, brother of Atiq Ahmed.
To avenge the crushing defeat, Raju Pal was chased and gunned down in broad daylight on January 25, 2005.
