UP: Yogi Govt Gears Up To Check Covid Resurgence, Asks People To Stay Cautious

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government is making renewed efforts to boost the health care facilities in the state in the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country once again.

Addressing a high-level meeting on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as quoted by news agency IANS, said, “In 2016-17, there were only 150 PICU beds in the state, and today as many as 6,700 PICUs have been established. Uttar Pradesh has become self-reliant as it has established 206 labs and multiple oxygen production units. There has been a 2.5-fold increase in Liquid Medical Oxygen and an eight-fold increase in PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption).”

In a proactive and multifaceted approach to check the spread of the infection before a possible fourth wave, the state government has urged the people to remain alert and follow the Covid protocols.

According to a government spokesperson, the Uttar Pradesh government has set up as many as 6,700 Paediatric ICUs in the state.

It is to be noted that Uttar Pradesh is set to be the first state in India to have a live emergency monitoring system and in this regard, CM Adityanath has directed the officials to make preparations for a mobile app-based digital platform and a command call centre for its smooth execution.

The CM has also asked the officials to draw up a strategy for setting up an e-hospital in the state and make it functional within two years.

An action plan should also be made to add five new courses - OT Technician, Radiotherapy Technician, Anaesthesia Technician, Dialysis Technician, and MRI Technician for the skill development of paramedical staff, the CM further said.
