UP: Security Beefed Up As Devotees Gather At Sangam Ghat In Prayagraj On Mauni Amavasya

Speaking on the matter, a police official said that all security arrangements have been made and all necessary information is being given to the devotees coming here.

UP News: A large number of devotees gathered at Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday to offer prayers and take a holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, news agency ANI reported. In view of the large gathering, all the security arrangements were made by the police. Speaking on the arrangements, a police official said that all security arrangements have been made and all necessary information is being given to the devotees coming here through the public address system.  

DIG, Prayagraj Rajeev Narayan Mishra said, "A large number of devotees have started gathering here at the ghat. All security arrangements have been made. Till now around 18-20 lakh devotees have taken holy dip... Deep water barricading, NDRF, SDRF, divers, and other arrangements have been made in the water for the safety of the devotees. All necessary information is being given to the devotees coming here through the public address system. Teams of ATS, RAF, STF, and bomb disposable squad, all have been deployed. Women police personnel have been deployed to help the women devotees coming here."
