UP Cabinet Update: Two Deputy CMs Including Keshav Prasad Maurya. Here's How Yogi Cabinet 2.0 Look Like

Maurya is the biggest leader of the backward community in the UP BJP. Despite losing the elections, by entrusting him a major responsibility, the party wants to send a political message.

New Delhi: The BJP government in UP may have two deputy CMs again. Just like the speculations were cleared in Uttarakhand, the doubts in UP regarding Keshav Prasad Maurya might also get cleared soon.

Like Pushkar Singh Dhami was made the CM of Uttarakhand even after losing the election, Maurya may also get appointed as Dy CM despite losing the election. Maurya was the deputy in Yogi’s first term and he may take the oath with Yogi on March 25.

Maurya is the biggest leader of the backward community in the UP BJP. By entrusting him with a big responsibility despite losing the elections, the party wants to send a political message amongst the backward sections. The BJP is eyeing the next Lok Sabha elections. The cabinet for this time is being formed keeping in mind Mission 2024.

Baby Rani Maurya May Be UP's Deputy CM

Under Mission 2024, there are talks of a second deputy CM being appointed from the SC community in place of a Brahmin leader this time. That too from the Jatav community. People from this community have been voting for the BSP until now. BSP supremo Mayawati also belongs to the same community. Baby Rani Maurya's name is the frontrunner in the race for deputy CM from this society. BJP's national vice-president Maurya has been elected MLA from Agra Rural for the first time. Just a few months before the election she was removed from the post of Governor of Uttarakhand.

Asim Arun From Jatav community.

Former police commissioner Asim Arun, who won the election from Kannauj, is also from the Jatav community. Just before the elections, he had quit his job as an IPS officer. His image has been that of an honest and prompt police officer. His father Shriram Arun had also been the DGP of UP twice. The BJP feels this is the chance when Mayawati's vote bank can be claimed and made their own. CSDS surveys also hint at this. In the recent assembly elections, 21 percent of Jatavs voted for the BJP while 65 percent voted for the BSP. Until now, all these votes would go to Mayawati's party. There are about 12 percent Jatavs in UP.

Many Faces From Previous Cabinet To Be Dropped.

A controversial face, who was a powerful cabinet minister in the Yogi government, may not secure a place in the cabinet this time. When he was a minister, he was accused of corruption several times. It is being said that the BJP's central leadership is upset with his work. That's why he was not handed over a single responsibility in this election. Similarly, a controversial face from PM Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi may also be dropped this time. He was a minister in Yogi's previous government, but due to his behaviour, the people of his area are not very happy with him.

BJP's Performance In Western UP

According to the discussions that have taken place so far about the formation of the cabinet, this time it will be a youth cabinet compared to last time. This time, bets will be placed upon some faces that are experts in one or the other field. Despite the farmers' agitation and the resentment of the Jat community, the BJP's performance in western UP was better.

That is why the party has decided to reward the MLAs of this area by making them ministers. It has also been decided to make two leaders working in the organization for the past several years as ministers. This time the emphasis is laid upon the most backward and Dalit community.
