Noida: Gautam Buddha Nagar has declared August 2nd a local holiday. District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has canceled the August 3 holiday for the Shivratri Jalabhishek of the month of Sawan. On August 2, Friday, he also declared a local holiday. Government offices and all district schools and colleges will be closed on August 2.

Holiday: DM Released A Memo

Regarding this, the District Magistrate has released a memo. That being said, the traffic instructions won't change during this time. Police officers on traffic duty will stop vehicles and show way to the Kanwariyas during the Kanwar Yatra. Kanwar Yatra 2024: Diversion of Traffic 

• Heavy, medium, and light vehicles coming from the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to Bulandshahr, Hapur, and Moradabad via the Delhi-Badarpur Border Okhla Barrage via Ghaziabad will use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
• Heavy, medium, and light vehicles will use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway from Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to travel from Delhi via the DND flyover to Noida via Ghaziabad to Bulandshahr, Hapur, and Moradabad.
• Heavy, medium, and light vehicles coming from the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Moradabad via the Chilla Red Light will use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
• Heavy, medium, and light vehicles using the elevated MP-01 route to reach Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Moradabad will use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway instead of the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
• The Eastern Peripheral Expressway will be used to return heavy, medium, and light vehicles that travel via NIB, Model Town, Chhijarsi, and Taj Highway to Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Moradabad.
• Heavy, medium, and light goods vehicles heading from Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Sikandrabad via Dadri NH-91 towards Ghaziabad, Delhi, will use the Eastern Peripheral.
• Vehicles carrying heavy, medium, and light goods will use the Eastern Peripheral from Sirsa roundabout when traveling from Sikandrabad, Kasna, via Pari Chowk, to Delhi via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

Kanwar Yatra: Special Significance For Hindus

Worshippers of Lord Shiva embark on an annual pilgrimage known as the Kanwar Yatra, which holds great significance for millions of Hindu devotees. The first day of Sawan, the Hindu month that starts in July, marks the start of the yatra. This year, July 22 marked the start of the auspicious month, and August 6 will mark its end. Mostly, the pilgrims go to Haridwar, Uttarakhand, and Baidyanath, Jharkhand, to offer holy water that they have drawn from the Ganges.

The Kanwar Yatra is a journey of penance, devotion, and faith; it is more than just a pilgrimage. It is thought that giving Lord Shiva water from the Ganges yields great benefits and spiritual merit. It stands for the unwavering trust in and desire to pursue Lord Shiva's heavenly blessings.
