MoS Sanjeev Balyan's Convoy Pelted With Stones During LS Poll Campaign In Muzaffarnagar: Police

Muzaffarnagar SP City Satyanarayan Prajapat said that stones were hurled at the convoy of Sanjeev Balyan in the Khatauli police station area.

New Delhi: The convoy of Sanjeev Balyan, Union Minister of State and Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha in-charge, came under attack as several vehicles were pelted with stones. The incident occurred while Balyan was addressing a gathering in Madkarimpur village of the Khatauli Assembly.

Upon his arrival in Madkarimpur village, opposition against Baliyan surfaced, leading to a confrontation and subsequent pelting at his convoy. As a result, windows of three vehicles were broken, police said.

Prompt action was taken by the police upon receiving the information, with a heavy deployment of forces to ensure Balyan's safety. Despite the chaos, Balyan was safely escorted away from the scene.

Muzaffarnagar SP City Satyanarayan Prajapat provided details regarding the attack, stating that stones were hurled around 8:30 pm in the Khatauli police station area. He added that upon receiving the information, police forces swiftly responded to the situation, including the station in-charge of Khatauli and other officials. Investigations revealed that the incident occurred during a public meeting organised by BJP candidate Sanjeev Balyan.

Initially, slogans were raised by certain individuals, followed by the pelting of stones at the parked convoy vehicles. While some vehicles sustained damage, the police presence ensured the maintenance of peace and order in the village.

“Today at around 8.30 pm, information about stone pelting was received from village Madkarimpur under the PS limit Khatauli, on which immediately the police station incharge reached the spot with the force and after this, the area officer Khatauli and I reached the spot. After reaching the village and getting information, it came to light that today in the evening, a public meeting was being held in the village by the BJP candidate. During this public meeting, slogans were first raised by some anti-social elements and then stones were pelted at the convoy of vehicles parked outside. Further investigation is underway and after investigation, a case will be registered,” Prajapat told ANI.

The upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to take place in seven phases, with Muzaffarnagar slated for voting in the first phase on April 19.
