Authorities Carry Out 2nd Demolition Driven At Residence Of Rape, Murder Accused In UP's Fatehpur

A demolition drive was carried out at the residence of a man who has been accused of raping and murdering a 19-year-old girl in UP's Fatehpur.

Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday carried out a second demolition drive at the residence of Sonu alias Sikandar, accused of love jihad, rape and murder in Fatehpur, reported news agency ANI. Sonu has been accused of raping and murdering a 19-year-old girl. The incident took place on June 22 and the victim died in the hospital after two days, said police, as quoted by ANI. They added that Sonu was arrested and sent to jail.

On June 27, authorities carried out a demolition drive at the residence of Sonu in Fatehpur district. During the demolition, a large number of police officials, including SDM were present on the site. CO City Veer Singh said that the house of the accused was built on the site of a pond, which is in the process of being demolished with bulldozers. In a video posted by ANI on Twitter, the house of the accused was seen being completely demolished. The front part of the two-storey house was removed completely by the officials at the site.

A 19-year-old girl living in a village in Radhanagar area had gone to a marriage in Bindki Kotwali area on Thursday (June 22) to attend the wedding of her cousin along with her relatives.

The accused, Sikandar Khan, a resident of Jwalaganj, reached there and kidnapped the girl and after taking her to a house under construction 500 meters away, raped her and crushed her with a brick. The accused was arrested and sent to jail soon after.

The girl was found lying in an under-construction house in Faridpur in the early morning on Friday (June 23). She was rushed to Kanpur Hallett Hospital and was undergoing treatment in its intensive care unit (ICU) but succumbed to the injuries.
