Two Dead In Gujarat Crash: Victims Were Streaming 180Kmph Highway Ride On Instagram Live
The incident unfolded as the group was live-streaming their journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on Instagram Live, showing visuals of the car hurtling down the highway at a staggering speed of 180 kmph.
New Delhi: Tragedy struck on a highway in Gujarat's Anand district as a speeding car attempting to overtake a truck crashed into a tree. Two young men died on the spot while three others were seriously injured in the accient, which took place as the occupants of the car were live-streaming their journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, at speeds ranging between 160 and at 180kmph, on Instagram Live.
The accident occurred on May 2 on National Highway 48 near Adas village in Gujarat's Anand district. The victims have been identified as Chirag Patel and Aman Sheikh, according to an India Today report.
The five young men left Ahmedabad for Mumbai around 12 midnight in a Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The footage commences with an interior view of the car, with two individuals greeting the audience as loud music plays in the background.
The video subsequently shifts to the speedometer, which shows the car's speed fluctuating between 160 and 180 kmph. The camera then transitions to the three men seated in the back, who are seen dancing to the music, cheering and singing.

As the journey progresses, a voice is heard using expletives and requesting for the music to be turned on.
Then the car is seen attempting to overtake a truck, and the sound of screeching wheels and a loud thud are heard before the vehicle comes to an abrupt halt. The subsequent shot shows the exterior of the car severely damaged.
Two victims lost their lives on the spot, while the remaining three sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Authorities have taken action by registering a case against the driver of the car, identified as Mustafa alias Shahbaz Khan Pathan, for reckless driving.
As the Instagram Live video went viral, Anand Superintendent of Police Gaurav Jasani told India Today that the footage was of the same accident. "This video is of the same incident. Two people have died and the remaining were admitted in the hospital," he added.
