Hyderabad Toddler Killed In Attack By Stray Dogs.Telangana CM Mulls Call Centre To Report Menace

The toddler was promptly taken to a private hospital and later transferred to a state-run hospital. However, he passed away the same night.

An 18-month-old boy died after being allegedly attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Jawahar Nagar of Hyderabad. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the child went outside his house. Initially, the dog dragged him some distance and subsequently other strays bit him causing severe injuries, as reported by PTI, quoting police officials from Jawahar Nagar police station.

The boy was promptly taken to a private hospital and later transferred to a state-run hospital where he passed away the same night.

Based on the incident, the parents of the boy gave a complaint. Following thism police registered a case. The family, originally from Siddipet district, reportedly relocated to Jawahar Nagar two months ago.

CM Revanth Reddy Reacts To Dog Menace

Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the child's death and directed officials to take immediate measures to prevent such incidents in the future. He highlighted the urgency of the situation noting that dog attacks have been reported frequently in the area, according to a report on PTI.

In response, the CM instructed officials to establish a toll-free number or a call center to enable residents to report instances where street dogs pose a threat. Additionally, he proposed forming a committee of experts, including veterinary doctors and representatives from animal welfare organizations like Blue Cross to investigate the causes behind these dog attacks, as per the report.

The police were also directed to initiate a vaccination drive to manage the stray dog population effectively.

Furthermore, the health department was tasked with ensuring that all urban health centers in Hyderabad and primary healthcare centers (PHCs) across the state have adequate supplies of medicines for treating victims of dog bite.
