President Murmu Arrives In Jharkhand; Pays Floral Tribute To Birsa Munda On Birth Anniversary

President Droupadi Murmu, who arrived in Ranchi greeted the people of Jharkhand on the state's foundation day and hoped that they would establish new dimensions of eco-friendly development.

President Murmu went to the birthplace of Birsa Munda and paid floral tributes at a bust of the tribal icon on his birth anniversary, which is celebrated as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas'.

President Droupadi Murmu, who arrived in the Jharkhand capital Ranchi on Tuesday morning greeted the people of Jharkhand on the state's foundation day and hoped that they would establish new dimensions of eco-friendly development by cherishing their culture. She went to the birthplace of Birsa Munda and paid floral tributes at a bust of the tribal icon on his birth anniversary, which is celebrated as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas'.

"Johar Jharkhand! On the State Foundation Day, I extend my warm greetings to all the residents of Jharkhand! I want the people of Jharkhand to establish new dimensions of eco-friendly development by cherishing their culture, traditions, and customs," the president tweeted in Hindi.

Upon landing at the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi around 9 am, the President was welcomed by Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. From there, she flew on an Indian Air Force chopper to Birsa Munda's village Ulihatu, where she was joined by Union ministers Arjun Munda and Annapurna Devi.

Jharkhand was formed on this day in 2000 after being carved out of Bihar. The former Jharkhand governor, who arrived in the state for the first time after becoming the President, was accorded a warm welcome by villagers at Ulihatu, around 70 km from the state capital Ranchi.

At Ulihatu, she paid floral tributes at a bust marking the birthplace of the tribal icon. Even though. Birsa Munda followers, decked up in traditional attires, flocked on both sides of the road to have a glimpse of the President. Common people were not allowed at the main venue due to security reasons.
