PM Narendra Modi, on January 2, handed over a 'chadar' to Kiren Rijiju for offering it at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on the occasion of the 'Urs' of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti – the 13th-century Sufi saint. This is the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
Earlier, in Jaipur, Rijiju said, "It is an old tradition of the country to visit the dargah of Gareeb Nawaz during 'Urs. I have got this opportunity to offer the 'chadar' on behalf of PM Modi. PM Modi's message is of harmony and brotherhood... Unity in diversity is our culture. People from all communities, be it Hindus, Jains or Sikhs seek blessings from 'Gareeb Nawaz'. Offering a 'chadar' on behalf of PM Modi is like offering it on behalf of the entire country...".
