Kerala: Four SDPI Leaders Arrested For BJP Leader Ranjith Sreenivasan's Death

The murder of Ranjith Srinivasan on Sunday is viewed as a retaliation to the murder SDPI State Secretary Shan's murder on Saturday.

Chennai: The Kerala police arrested four Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) workers in connection with the murder of BJP state leader Ranjith Srineevasan on Tuesday. The arrest of the SDPI functionaries comes a day after two Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers were arrested for the murder of SDPI state secretary KS Shan in Alappuzha.

The murder of Ranjith Sreenivasan on Sunday is viewed as a retaliation to the murder of SDPI State Secretary Shan's murder on Saturday.

According to the CCTV footage retrieved from Ranjith's home, 12 persons were seen entering the home on six two-wheelers and they reportedly started attacking him. However, it can be noted that Ranjith was never on the hit list of the opposition parties, said the police to The Indian Express.

However, the two political leaders' death has created turmoil in Alappuzha with the district administration imposing a curfew to ease the tension.

However, Minister of State V Muraleedharan said, "Pinarayi Vijayan's Goondaraj takes yet another precious life. @BJP4OBCMorcha State Secretary Adv Ranjith Sreenivasan was hacked to death by SDPI goons. @CPIMKerala rule turning the state into a killing field. No Law & Order. No security for citizens Killers goes scot-free. Shame!"

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Alappuzha SP said that two RSS workers were arrested for the murder of Shan since they were also involved in arranging the vehicle for the murderers. The preliminary investigation revealed that eight members including the duo were involved in the murder of Shan and the remaining accused are yet to be arrested.
