Karnataka Fan 'Murder' Case: Mother Of Darshan's Associate Passes Away

Raghu had deceived Renukaswamy promising him an apology from the prime accused Darshan's partner Pavithra Gowda and a photograph with Darshan to lure him to the location.

The mother of Raghavendra, one of the main accused in the high-profile fan murder case involving Kannada superstar Darshan, passed away on Saturday. The 70-year-old woman, Manjulamma, had been suffering from an ailment for a year, and her son's arrest had reportedly worsened her health condition.

Raghavendra, also known as Raghu, is the fourth accused in the case and the President of the Chitradurga Darshan Fans Association. His family has requested the authorities to permit him to attend his mother's funeral, according to a report on IANS. This follows the earlier death of Chandrappa, the father of another accused, Anil Kumar, who succumbed to a cardiac arrest following his son's arrest alongside Darshan.

Renukaswamy Murder Case

The murder of Renukaswamy was a gruesome event that shocked the city. Raghu is a significant figure in the case, having been directed by Darshan to locate the victim, Renukaswamy, in Chitradurga and bring him to Bengaluru. Once in Bengaluru, Renukaswamy was taken to a shed where he was brutally tortured and killed on June 8.

Raghu had deceived Renukaswamy promising him an apology from the prime accused Darshan's partner Pavithra Gowda and a photograph with Darshan to lure him to the location, as per the report.

After being kidnapped from Chitradurga, he was tortured to death in a shed in Bengaluru, and his body was subsequently disposed of in a gutter. The incident came to light when security personnel at a private apartment saw dogs dragging the body.

Renukaswamy is survived by his elderly parents, a pregnant wife, and a sister. The investigation, led by the Kamakshipalya Police, revealed that the murder was executed in response to Renukaswamy sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. Initially, four of the accused surrendered, claiming responsibility for the murder over a financial dispute, but further interrogation uncovered the involvement of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and others.

The court has extended the judicial custody of Darshan and his associates, including Raghu, for 14 days until August 1.
