Dominic Thiem pulls out of US Open

Defending champion Dominic Thiem on Wednesday pulled out of the US Open because of a wrist injury.

“I’m very disappointed not to be able to defend my U.S. Open title and to miss the rest of the season,” the 27-year-old from Austria said in the statement. “But I know this is what I have to do.
