Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz 13-5 in the men’s 57kg freestyle bronze medal bout on August 9 (Friday). This victory marked India’s fifth bronze and sixth overall medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. However, with the Games nearing their conclusion, India’s participation has been reduced to just two events. On the penultimate day (August 10), Reetika Hooda will compete in the Freestyle 76kg wrestling event, while Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar will take part in the final round of women’s golf.

Coming to the the bronze medal bout between Aman Sehrawat and Darian Cruz, it was a fierce contest from the start. Cruz initially took the lead with a point by pushing Sehrawat out of bounds, but Sehrawat quickly responded with a two-point tackle. The match was filled with aggressive exchanges, with both wrestlers showcasing aggression and skill. Despite Cruz's efforts to regain control, Sehrawat consistently fought back, extending his lead with quick footwork and determined grappling and also successfully tiring is opponent. Eventually, Sehrawat won the bout 13-5 to claim his first Olympic bronze medal.

- Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar finished Round 3 in Tied 40th and Tied 42nd positions, respectively.
Athletics
