Vinesh Phogat Pens Down Emotional Letter After Paris Olympics Heartbreak, Says 'We Did Not Give Up'

Vinesh Phogat penned an emotional letter on social media after her Paris Olympics 2024 heartbreak, thanking all those who played a vital part in her journey.

In an elaborate social media post, wrestler Vinesh Phogat thanked and acknowledged all those that played a crucial part in her Paris Olympics 2024 journey. The star Indian grappler had become the first Indian woman wrestler to secure a place in an Olympic final before being disqualified for being 100 grams overweight in the Women's 50 kg Freestyle wrestling even in the 33rd Summer Games.

While Vinesh challenged that decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as she demanded that she be given a joint-silver medal, her plea was dismissed by the court. In an emotional letter, Vinesh remembered her childhood struggles and thanked all those who had a role to play in her Olympic journey. She emphasised "we did not give up" when describing the efforts made by the team to make her body touches the 50-kilograms mark at the time of the weigh in before the final. However, in her own words, "the time was not fair.

"Maybe under different circumstances, I could see myself playing till 2032, because the fight in me and wrestling in me will always be there. I can't predict what the future holds for me, and what awaits me in this journey next, but I am sure that I will continue to fight always for what I believe in and for the right thing," Vinesh wrote in the concluding part of that note.
