As soon as India beat Great Britain, commentator Sunil Taneja broke down in tears. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
It was an emotionally charged win for Team India over Great Britain in the Men's Hockey Quarterfinal of the Paris Olympics 2024. Nothing seemed to be going in their favour with India going one man down in the first half itself and some of the refereeing decisions also going against them.
However, none of it seemed to matter as India eventually went on to beat Great Britain 4-2 in the penalty shootout. The excitement was palpable after India's win. Even commentator Sunil Taneja broke down in tears while trying to explain the significance of one of India's iconic victories. "Bharat semifinal ja raha hai," he exclaimed on air as he got emotional.
