IPL 2020, DC vs RCB: Delhi Capitals Defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore By 6-Wickets But Both Teams Qualify For IPL Playoffs

IPL 2020, Delhi vs Bangalore: Delhi Capitals today gets the much-needed two precious points and will qualify for the playoffs with 16 points, while the losing team RCB will have 14 points and will get a place in the playoffs based on the net run rate of the rest of the teams.

Delhi Capitals openers Ajinkya Rahane (46-ball 60) and Shikhar Dhawan (41-ball 54) added a solid 50-plus runs for the second wicket to power their team to a six-wicket win in their last league match, over Virat-led Royal Challengers Bangalore at Abu Dhabi. With this win, while Delhi Capitals have become the second team to qualify for IPL 2020 playoffs and finish at second place on points tablr, RCB's too have managed to qualify for the playoffs by stretching the game to 19th over and maintaining their NRR above KKR. If SRH, who are on 12 points, win on Tuesday against heavyweights Mumbai, RCB will finish fourth but if MI win, they will finish third and KKR will finish fourth. As for DC, Monday's win guarantees them two shots at entering the final, the first of which will be on Thursday against Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier. Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane's flourishing partnership put Delhi Capitals on top in the 153-run chase after Mohammed Siraj provided the early breakthrough in his first over to depart opening batsman Prithvi Shaw (9). DC bowlers bowled remarkably well to restrict RCB to 152/7 in the must-win clash at Abu Dhabi. South African fast bowling duo Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje shared five wickets. Opener Devdutt Padikkal made 50 off 41 balls with five fours while AB de Villiers scored 35 off 21 deliveries. Skipper Vira Kohli made 29 and shared a 57-run partnership for the second wicket with Padikkal.
