Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant played a sensational 101-run knock and stitched a solid 113-run partnership with all-rounder Washington Sundar to put India in driving seat and get 89-run lead over England at Stumps on Day 2 of India vs England final and fourth Test.

From 146-6, India doubled up by the end of Day 2's play: 294-7, 89-run lead over visitors, courtesy a great ton from Rishabh Pant and an important 60* by Washington Sundar. For England, speedster Jimmy Anderson picked three wickets.

On Day 2, India started their first innings at 25-runs for loss of one wicket. But just after scoring 30 runs, India lost wickets of Pujara and Kohli. For the second time in the series, skipper Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion for a duck.

Rohit Sharma along with Rahane then steadied India's innings. Rahane, however, once again failed to play a big knock and got out for 27. Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly but he too missed out on scoring his half-century by just one run.

India lost 6 wickets for 146 runs and looked in a difficult situation. Pant then shared a solid 113-run partnership with Washington Sundar for the seventh wicket to pull his team back into the game.

The second day of Ind vs Eng 4th Test belonged to Rishabh Pant, who scored a sensational third century of his Test career and that too with a six. Pant, however, was later departed by Anderson for 101.

Washington Sundar completed third half-century of his Test career and remained unbeaten on 60 at stumps. Akshar Patel too did not give away his wicket and remained unbeaten on 11 runs.

The last session was disappointing for the England bowlers. Anderson took three wickets, Stokes and Leach took 2 wickets each. The visitors are trailing 1-2 in the four-match series.
