Xavi Hernandez Sacked By FC Barcelona: Xavi Hernandez is all set to leave FC Barcelona after the team's final game of the season on May 26 (Sunday). The same was confirmed in an official statement by the club on Friday. While the official statememt did not mention who will replace Hernandez at the helm of affairs, it is being reported that Bayern Munich and Germany coach Hansi Flick is set to be his successor at the club.
"FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has informed Xavi Hernández that he will not be continuing as first team coach in the 2024-25 season," the club's official statement read.

"Barca wishes to thank Xavi for his work as coach, as well as for his inimitable career as a player and as team captain, and wishes him every future success in the world," the statement added.
"In the coming days, Barcelona will reveal the new coaching structure for the first team staff," Barcelona's statament further read.
Xavi Was Pursuaded By Club President To Stay
FC Barcelona's move comes one month after Xavi and club President Joan Laporta's announcement where it was announced that the Spaniard would be there till the end of his contract that was supposed to run until 2025. That statement had come in contradiction of ealier plan of Xavi to step down at the end of the season.

It is being reported that Laporta was not too pleased by the remarks made by Xavi last week about the financial difficulties faced by club in the transfer market. It is still not clear though whether Xavi will ask for compensation for the remaining year of his contract, especially after the manner in which he leaves the club, it would be interesting to see his stance on the same.
