World Cup 2019: Shami bowls well because he's a Muslim - Razzaq brings 'religious angle' to India's defeat
Razzaq brought a religious angle to India’s defeat, saying Mohammad Shami is a Muslim and he was the only one trying hard on the field
It was probably for the first time that Pakistani fans were cheering for India to win a cricket game as Pakistan were relying on the 'Men-in-blue' to reach the semi-final. However, Virat-led India suffered a comprehensive 31-run defeat at the hands of England – their first defeat in the ongoing tournament.
India’s loss hurt fans across the border more than the Indians. Some fans and critics even went on to say that India deliberately lost the game against the hosts to oust Pakistan from the quadrennial event.
Speaking to Geo Super, Abdul Razzaq brought a religious angle to India’s defeat, saying Mohammad Shami is a Muslim and he was the only one trying hard on the field.
Here’s the video…
Virat Kohli & Co tasted the first defeat in the ongoing World Cup as England registered a 31-run win, their first over India in 27 years in the marquee event. The win saw England stay alive with a chance to qualify for the semi-final stages as Rohit Sharma 102 went in vain. Chasing 338 for a win was never going to be easy, especially when India lost opener K.L. Rahul for a duck. But with skipper Virat Kohli joining the in-form Rohit Sharma in the middle, it was all about buying time in the middle as they blunted the English attack with their perfect mix of caution and aggression.Don't understand why religion has to be mentioned when looking at the performance of the Indian bowling attack #CWC19 🙄 pic.twitter.com/A3INMEEBP7
