The Kohli-led Men in Blue were clinical with both bat and ball and outplayed their sub continent rivals in all facets of the game. Batting first India posted a stiff 336-run total on the back of a brilliant ton by opener Rohit Sharma. They were handy contributions by Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. In reply to India's daunting target, Pakistan began cautisously but lost wickets at regular intervals to hand India a thumping victory.
Here are the major record and milestones which were achieved by cricketers in the high octane clash.
Rohit Sharma became the second Indian to score a century against Pakistan at the World Cup.
Rohit Sharma became only the third Indian to score at least three tons in World Cup. He is joint third with Shikhar Dhawan in India's list of centurions at the showpiece event. Sachin Tendulkar is the highest ton maker with 6 tons followed by Sourav Ganguly who has four hundreds to his name in World Cups.
Rohit became the first Indian to score consecutive tons versus the Men in Green. His previous triple-figure score came during the Asia Cup 2018 in UAE.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the fastest to reach the 11000-run milestone in one day internationals. The Indian skipper took just 222 innings to get to the landmark, eclipsing the record of Sachin Tendulkar, who got the landmark in 276 innings.
Rohit picked up his third 'Man of the Match' award in a World Cup game. He is now the joint-fourth in the list of Indians with most such awards: Sachin (9), Sourav-Yuvraj Singh (4), Kapil Dev- Dhawan (3).
Rohit surpassed his highest World Cup score during his fluent ton against Pakistan. He went past his 137 which came against Bangladesh in the quarterfinals of the 2015 edition.
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul registered the highest opening partnership by an Indian pair against Pakistan at the World Cup. The duo beat the previous record staged by Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Sidhu (90 runs) against Pakistan in the 1996 World Cup.
