Rishabh Pant Bats For First Time After Deadly Car Accident - WATCH

The Delhi-based batter sustained multiple serious injuries, including a right knee injury that needed ligament surgery.

After going through a horrific car crash in  December last year, India’s explosive wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was spotted batting for the first time. Post meeting with the accident, he was ruled out of professional cricket and had undergone multiple surgeries to repair the damages he sustained in the accident. Pant stepped on the ground and batted in Bengaluru for the first time in more than 8 months on Tuesday. His batting video went viral on social media where he can be seen hitting maximums in a local match in Bengaluru.

The Delhi-based batter sustained multiple serious injuries, including a right knee injury that needed ligament surgery. It has been close to eight months since the deadly accident and the Delhi Capitals player has been going through a strict recovery process. Earlier, the young wicketkeeper had surgery in Mumbai under the supervision of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in February 2023 where he got his three ligaments repaired.

Last week, Pant shared a video of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer batting together in a warm-up game. It is expected that Pant will be missing out on playing in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup.  Ishan Kishan is likely to be with the Indian team as the second-choice wicket-keeper if Rahul gets fit for the Asia Cup.  As of now, the 25-year-old has played in 33 Tests, 30 ODIs, and 66 T20I matches for India were scored a total of 6 international hundreds in his international career till date.

Even veteran pacer Ishant Sharma gave an update about Pant's return and stated there's a chance that the Delhi player might miss next year's IPL as well.

During a discussion on Jio Cinema, Ishant said: "I feel we might not see Rishabh Pant in the next IPL as well because it is not a small injury. It was a very serious accident. He has just started batting and wicketkeeping, and to run and turn after that, there are a lot of things, which are not easy for a wicketkeeper and a batter."
