Richards Recovers, Returns To Commentary After Falling Ill During Pre-Game Show
Richards recovered in quick time to return to commentary in the post-lunch session of the second World Championship Test between India and West Indies on Friday
There was a worrying moment before the start of play when Windies legendary batsman Vivian Richards, who was doing the pre-game show, fell ill on air. The medical team initially brought in a stretcher but then they got him to stand up and led him up the stairs. According to reports, Viv Richards had recovered and all vitals are stable," - the producer on site had heard from the WICB medical doctor. Working as a commentator, Richards fell ill suffering from dehydration due to excessive humidity in Jamaica. The 67-year-old legendary batsman recovered in quick time to return to commentary in the post-lunch session of the second World Championship Test between India and West Indies on Friday.
"To all the fans around the world, I want to say I have recovered. I am OK and I have returned (to do commentary)," Richards said on air.
"No bowler in the world could do it to me, that was done by nature (meaning heat). We have to respect nature," he added.
Fifties from Virat Kohli and Mayank Agarwal saw India reach 264/5 on day one at Sabina Park. Skipper Jason Holder claimed three wickets for West Indies.
