Ravindra Jadeja Rested, Not Dropped For Sri Lanka ODIs: Report
A fresh media report claims that Ravindra Jadeja has been rested rather than dropped for the ODI series against the Sri Lanka
A new era in the Indian cricket team (ICT) is all set to commence with Gautam Gambhir having taken over as the new head coach and the trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja having retired from T20 Internationals (T20Is). While the original plan was that the seniormen will all be rested for the Sri Lanka tour to keep them fresh and ready for a packed home season ahead, Gambhir's request meant Rohit and Virat had to cut short their vacation.
However, when India's squad for Sri Lanka series was finally announced, even though Rohit and Kohli did find themselves in the contingent, there was no Jadeja in the side which meant that there were questions over whether he was still in the management's ODI plan moving forward.

While the first reason is that selectors and Gambhir want to have a look at Axar Patel in ODIs and whether he can play the same role that he has been performing for the team in T20Is, the other is Jadeja who will play an important role in the home season with the team even requring him to bowl long spells especially with India scheduled to play 10 Tests between September to January next year.
