Afghanistan Veteran Eyes ICC Champions Trophy Glory; Calls Himself...
Afghanistan veteran eyes one last shot at glory, as he aims at guiding his nation to it's first-ever major ICC trophy. Here are the details.
Afghanistan veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has his sights set on the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, as the 39-year-old wishes to see his in-form side lay hands on a major trophy at senior level.
Afghanistan's rise in cricket over the past 12 months has been rapid, and the Asian side are no more minnows, and are counted amongst the world-beaters. ODI series victory over South Africa and Bangladesh further solidifies their case for being counted amongst the favourites for ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
"Yes, I had that thing in my mind of retirement since the last ODI World Cup but we qualified for the Champions Trophy now so I think if we play one Champions Trophy, it will be better for me. Well I just provide small small contributions in the dressing room. I try to help the youngsters especially Ghazanfar, it will help him a lot and I am always there for the youngsters," said Mohammad Nabi, during the post-match presentation ceremony, after being awarded the Player of the series against Bangladesh.
"No, in the last series against South Africa, I did not do well with the bat. I worked harder and wanted to do better with the bat in this series. Really happy to perform well for my team. Yeah, I just spoke with Omarzai that just look for singles. Watch the ball closely and the boundary will come," he added.
