Rohit Sharma has risen to No. 2 in the ICC ODI batters rankings following his impressive performance in the recent series against Sri Lanka. He is now closing in on Babar Azam's top position.
India captain Rohit Sharma has climbed to the No. 2 spot in the latest International Cricet Council’s (ICC) ODI batters rankings after his exceptional performance in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Rohit is now closing in on Babar Azam's top spot, trailing the Pakistan captain by just 59 points, with Babar holding 824 points. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has dropped to third place and Virat Kohli remains in fourth.
Rohit's rise comes after scoring 157 runs in the series against Sri Lanka. India's top batters, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, struggled in Sri Lanka, with Kohli managing just 58 runs across the three games.

Rohit Sharma Was Sole Performer With Bat For India Against Sri Lanka
Despite India’s 0-2 loss to Sri Lanka in the series, Rohit Sharma had an exceptional performance, finishing as the top run-scorer. The 37-year-old accumulated 157 runs from three matches at an average of 52.33 and a strike rate of 141.44, including two half-centuries and a highest score of 64.

In bowling, the ace India spinner Kuldeep Yadav remains India's highest-ranked ODI bowler at No. 4, while star pacer Jasprit Bumrah retained his No. 8 spot despite not featuring against Sri Lanka. Pacer Mohammed Siraj, who did play in the series, has dropped to No. 10.
The latest Test player rankings also saw some changes following the draw between the West Indies and South Africa.

In the Test rankings, South Africa's Temba Bavuma and Tony de Zorzi made notable strides in the batting rankings. Bavuma achieved a new career high, climbing two spots to 16th after his impressive scores of 86 and 15* against West Indies.
Meanwhile, Tony de Zorzi surged 29 spots to 85th place, following his impressive 78-run contribution in the first innings of the WI vs SA test match.
South Africa's left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj made a notable impact in the latest Test bowling rankings. After taking four wickets in each innings and earning Player of the Match award, Maharaj leaped seven spots to secure a tie for 21st place, reinforcing his status among the world's top Test bowlers.
