Bizarre! PAK vs BAN 2nd Test In Karachi To Be Held Without Spectators: Here's Why

The National Stadium in Karachi is undergoing major construction work in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted by Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to hold the 2nd Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, scheduled from August 30 to September 3, without any spectators at the National Stadium in Karachi.

This decision comes as the stadium is undergoing major construction work in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted by Pakistan.

Pakistan and Bangladesh will face off in a two-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship. PAK vs BAN Test series will begin with the first Test in Rawalpindi from August 21 to 25, followed by the second Test in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.

Earlier, PCB had reduced ticket prices for PAK vs BAN 2nd Test in Karachi to just INR 15 (PKR 50) for the Wasim Bari enclosure in an effort to fill the stands. However, due to ongoing renovation work, fans will no longer be able to watch the game live inside the stadium.

Safety and well-being of spectators our top priority, says PCB

"We understand the vital role that our passionate spectators play in cricket, providing inspiration and motivation to our players. However, the health and safety of our fans is our utmost priority. After careful consideration of all available options, we have decided that the safest course of action is to hold the second Test in front of an empty stadium.

"As a result of this decision, ticket sales have been suspended with immediate effect. Fans who have already purchased tickets will receive a full refund automatically, with the amount credited to the account details provided at the time of purchase.

"While we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause, we want to assure our valued fans that the ongoing stadium upgrades are aimed at enhancing their experience. The renovations are part of our commitment to making the venue more spectator-friendly and preparing it for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be the first ICC event hosted in Pakistan since 1996."
