“Karma": ICC Mocks England Fans For Booing Steve Smith
The same fans, who booed Smith, were forced to give him a standing ovation after his phenomenal batting in the ongoing Ashes series
Australia's Steve Smith is having a brilliant run in the ongoing Ashes Test series as he made a dream comeback into the longest format of the game after completing his 12-month-ban. The star batsman hit a double ton on Thursday and has already taken back the No.1 Test batsman tag from India skipper Virat Kohli. The 30-year-old has scored an impressive 671 runs in five innings thus far in the Ashes.
However, there have been some instances when Smith had to receive audible contingent boos and some fans even make rude and mocking remarks at him. Smith's befitting reply to the crowd was his fabulous double century in the first innings. He then followed it up with a great 82 under pressure to ensure that Australia retain the Ashes urn.
The same fans, who booed Smith, were forced to give him a standing ovation now. The International Cricket Council (ICC) took this opportunity to take a sly dig at the English fans.
In their latest tweet, ICC tweeted the definition of the word ‘Karma’. The apex cricketing board also added a picture of a fan who wore the mask of Steve Smith crying while addressing the media last year.
“karma [noun] kar·ma | ˈkär-mə also ˈkər- Definition of karma often capitalized: the force generated by a person’s actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person’s next existence,” tweeted ICC.
Speaking to IANS, legendary Australia leg-spinner Shane Warne had said that if he had to pick one for Tests, Smith would have a slight advantage over his otherwise favourite Kohli. “As far as Test cricket goes, I would probably say it is a really tough one between Virat and Smith. But I think if I had to pick one batsman in Test cricket, it would be Smith, but if I lost that and had Virat, I would still be happy because he is a legend,” he pointed.karma [noun] kar·ma | ˈkär-mə also ˈkər- Definition of karma often capitalized : the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person's next existence. pic.twitter.com/tv2UmTd1TI
