ICC Agrees To Hybrid Model For 2025 Champions Trophy But Pakistan Will Not Tour India Till 2027: Report

The ICC has agreed to a hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy, allowing India to play matches in Dubai but Pakistan is expected to skip traveling to India for ACC and ICC events until 2027.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly agreed ‘in principle’ to host the 2025 Champions Trophy using a hybrid model, enabling India to play their matches in Dubai and not travel to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC event, as demanded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has in response called for the same hybrid model to be applied to all ICC and ACC tournaments and are expected to skip travelling to India till 2027.

As per PTI, the decision of going hybrid in hosting the Champions Trophy was largely settled during an informal meeting at the ICC headquarters in Dubai on Thursday, attended by the new ICC President Jay Shah and the Board of Directors, including representatives from Pakistan.

"It's been agreed in principle by all parties that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in the UAE and Pakistan with India playing its matches in Dubai. It's a win-win situation for all stakeholders," PTI quoted an ICC source as saying.

Pakistan Will Not Tour India For ICC, ACC Tournaments Till 2027

Pakistan will not travel to India for any ACC or ICC events until 2027. India is scheduled to host the Asia Cup 2025, the Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Currently, the Men in Green are not expected to play any matches on Indian soil during these tournaments.

"During the 2026 men's T20 World Cup, Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka. The compensation demanded by PCB for the Champions Trophy hybrid model is still under consideration," PTI quoted the ICC source as saying further.

If the above mentioned comes to be true, it will mean that India vs Pakistan matches will not take place on Indian soil. India and Pakistan’s last ODI meeting was during the 2023 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where India secured a convincing victory.
