Background

India and England lock horns at the fourth Test on Day 2 of a series that has been a "spicy" one as said by Virat Kohli. India and England have been involved in heated arguments and confrontations in the first three Test matches and especially in the Lord's Test match when the fans saw the display of Bodyline bowling.

Earlier, Virat Kohli faced online flak for dropping Ravi Ashwin for a fourth consecutive Test match in England. Indian skipper made two changes but was averse to the idea of including Ashwin in the side.

On Day 1, a late furry by Shardul Thakur took India's score to a respectable total of 191. The problems in the Indian batting were again out in the open. India's top and middle-order failures have been the hallmark of the Indian batting performance in the series. If not for Shardul Thakur's 57 runs from 36 balls that helped India go past 150 runs.

Indian pacers, namely Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah bowled well in the last session and picked three English wickets. Umesh Yadav, on his return, picked up the prized wicket of Joe Root.
